There is no option for this. I assume you`ll have to edit j06000selectcombo.class.php, j00030search.class.php and the modules srch.html templates to achieve this.

Piranha, please can you be a little more specific, what do we have to change exactly in this files. Everything refering to country? And also in the modules srch.html?

Has anybody else already tried what Piranha proposed?

I really need to remove the country search at all until tomorrow...

So, what you need is always have the country selected and hidden, have the regions in this country displayed by default and the town displayed after selecting the region?

I tried doing this some time ago with the select combo box and couldn't achieve it, because I didn't understand how the jquery plugin works. If you do manage to figure it out, let us know and I'll add it to the code.

That is exactly what most of us are looking for. If that is not possible, I think even just having the one country of choice be the default for in the country box, instead of "all" would suffice.

Hello Vince,

please explain me a little more specific, where I have to set the geographic option to "none"
In the backend (where?) or in which file?

If it's a module, then it's one of the options in the module's config. If it's the integrated search you're using, then that's in Site Config -> Integrated search.

I am not sure exactly what you mean, are you using the integrated search or module?

On the integrated search if you set "integrated search features", "Search region by select combo dropdown" to no, and "search by town/region" to blank and "show as drop down" to none, the location search will be disabled on the front end.

Frixos couldn't be more clear.

Anyway, Vince is right. I do have code changes in some of those files to achieve this. Sorry if I mislead you to think it was just search.html and config stuff ...

Hi Marco,

did you figure out what changes you made to disable the "search by country"???

I rally need a to disable this drop down box without loosing the other searchboxes in the integrated search ...!!!

Or do you know how to disable all the search for some regions?

Example:
index.php?option=com_jomres&town=Aθήνα+-+Athens&ptype=1send=Search&calledByModule=mod_jomsearch_m0&Itemid=404

What do I have to remove to disable at least the search boxes for some queries?

Can somebody help please?

Thanks for your posts

The changes are hardcoded inside j00030search.class.php . What i did was to create the initial select boxes (Region and Location) inside that file. This is a case by case scenario.

Has I said before the country select box isn't disabled, just hidden. You still need it to populate the "Region" select box upon further navigation.

Look, reviewing this issue has already taken me some time and it really is a bit complicated. If you need further assistance please contact me at marco.geracao[at]gmail.com so we can use a proper channel.

Cheers,
Marco G.

Did you have any luck?

I also have only one country and one region. I need to hide the country and if possible the region and search only with towns. I deleted all the regions except the one I need from the country.php and I don't know the next step.

Can anyone help me?

Are you using the integrated search? If yes, you have this option.

Yes I do.
But it seems that there are no values for country and region so the dropdown list for town never appears.
Can I set manually the values for country and region permanently?

Those values are taken from existing properties details, so make sure your properties are published.

All my properties are published.
Maybe I was not clear.
If I leave the "Search region by select combo dropdown" to "YES" then:

I have the " Search by country" to the frontend with 2 options: "All" and my unique "COUNTRY".
When I select the "COUNTRY" then the value is the "COUNTRY"
After that appears the "Search by region" with 2 options: "All" and my unique "REGION"
When I select the "REGION" then the value is the "REGION" and the dropdown list for "TOWN" appears.

I think that if I I leave the "Search region by select combo dropdown" to "NO" then these values are something like NULL because they are taking their value from the "ALL" and not the "Region" and the "Country" so the combo dropdown for the town does not appear.
Am I right?

I suppose that if it is possible to set manually somewhere in the code the value for "COUNTRY" and "REGION" according to my "Country and Region" options permanently then the combo dropdown list for TOWN will always appear.

If you use the intregrated search, then it`s simple. Set "Search region by select combo dropdown" to "NO" and set "Search by town/region" to "Town". This is it.

I think that you miss something.
Please read the previous posts.
I tried everything before. The combo dropdown listbox for town does not appear.
I have the same problem with Frixos. He wanted the country listbox hidden and populated.
I also need the region listbox hidden and populated with my only region that let exist.
I am wondering if Marco did any progress.
Thanks
