There are lots of changes in this version, including some great new features.

First off, the image handling has been updated in a number of ways. Up until now images were found by a class file that scanned the relevant directories. In this version image details can be saved to the database -you're prompted to import images in the administrator control panel. This speeds up the image detection process a lot. Secondly, we've added support for Amazon S3 / Cloudfront so that you can choose to save images offsite altogether. This again improves performance and bandwidth usage of the site.

Property Categories

Next, Property Categories have been added. Don't confuse these with Joomla categories, they're not the same. We're occasionally asked how they can list properties in a new way, that has nothing to do with their current property type, and the Property Categories feature has been added to allow that. Use a shortcode (Admin > Jomres > Tools > Shortcodes) to list properties in the categories you create. There is a video on the property categories page if you're in any doubt as to how to use it.

Added a minimum deposit value setting to Property Configuration. If the deposit calculated is less than N figure, then the N figure is used to as the deposit value.

Global Coupon codes are now available, which are useful for site administrators if there's a special code they want to use for things like bonus weekends or whatever.

The language context feature has been refactored. There's now no longer a need for multiple language files, instead you can choose the language context through the edit labels page, allowing you to have different language strings for different property types without needing multiple language files where were largely duplicates of the original files.

Under the hood there have been a lot of changes too. Guzzle is used in place of curl in a lot of places, and composer is used to manage most of the libraries. As always see the changelog https://www.jomres.net/support/changelog for a fuller breakdown of changes or if you want to see the changes themselves then mosey on over to Github https://github.com/WoollyinWalesIT/jomres/commits/master

ABOUT US

vince picDeveloped and maintained by Vince Wooll, Jomres was initially conceived in early 2005 as a Mambo based solution to a client’s hotel management needs. While it wasn't originally expected to be an online booking system it quickly morphed into one as users requested more and more features.

As the number of feature requests grew Vince knew that he would need to dedicate more time to the project and in July 2005 Jomres was released as a commercial project. Since then Jomres has become the world's oldest online booking plugin for any PHP CMS. It has been used in Joomla 1.0, 1.5, 2.5, 3 & 4 and WordPress 4, 5 & 6.

Aladar joined the project in 2010 after using Jomres for his own projects. He was active on the forum, helping other members of the community and eventually Vince invited him to join the team. Between 2010 and 2018 he was an integral part of the project and made many significant contributions.

Whilst not formally part of the Jomres project, Rodrigo Rocco and Vince have become firm friends. Rod is a freelancer who specialises in doing custom work for Jomres users and developing custom plugins for the system that take advantage of it's modular design. He has built many useful extensions including his fabulous Valentina Template Override Package.
