Jomres is a powerful booking system for WordPress. It's packed with features that make it easy to manage your bookings and customers. In this blog post, we'll take a look at some of the best customisation aspects of Jomres.

Strict separation of code and markup

This allows you to easily customize the layout of your website without having to touch the code. Many PHP based systems use a mixture of PHP and HTML to build output. This is great if you're a developer throwing together a project for a quick job, but if you're planning to maintain your booking engine to really reap the benefits of it, or if you're great with design but not a coder, it's a recipe for disaster. Jomres' philosophy is to, wherever possible, use template files that are pure HTML and let the code make the important decisions of what to show, and let the template files take care of the design. This gives you a system that's far easier to maintain over the longer term.

Bootstrap compatibility

Jomres is compatible with Bootstrap 2, 3, and 5. This makes it easy to create a responsive website that looks great on all devices. Because of the code and markup separation, this is easy to do.

Template overrides

You can override any template file in Jomres and store it safely so it won't be overwritten on updates. This gives you the ability to highly customise how your site looks, but still update and use the latest and greatest features of Jomres as they're add. If you're a coder, you can also override many of the features of Jomres code too. You're not locked to one specific version of Jomres because you spent days or weeks getting the site to look just the way you want.

Quickstarts

Building a site like AirBNB or Booking.com isn't a trivial matter. These are monsterous systems with more moving parts than we could possible count. Jomres, in comparison is far simpler, but it's still a complicated beast that takes time to learn. The Quickstarts, fortunately lift a lot of that load from you. They're copies of your favourite CMS (Joomla or WordPress) with Jomres already setup ready to use. Sure, you might still want to customise them, but it's a lot easier than starting from scratch if you're not yet familiar with Jomres.

One of the reasons that Jomres has remained popular for so long is that I understand that your clients need you to customise their sites, but you don't want to be stuck with a system that's impossible to update or maintain. Maintenance contracts are your bread and butter as a designer and integrator. It's my job to make sure that you can keep your clients happy with the minimum amount of effort.
