I've made a thing!

A WordPress Quickstart, to be precise.

For months I've been working on making Jomres look good in Bootstrap 5. It's been a pleasure, in truth because BS5 is a dream of a framework to work with.

The primary need was to ensure that Jomres plays nicely with Joomla 4, but I didn't want Wordpress users to feel left out so I felt it was time that the Wordpress Portal Quickstart had received some much needed attention, and now it has.

You can play around with the new Quickstart on http://wordpress-portal.jomres.net/ to get a feel for the new look and feel of things. The theme it's built on is called Sunbearu, which means A Sunny Grove in Old English. It's not a full theme, it's a child theme, and you can read about it here.

My goal from the start was to create a theme that was pure, butt naked Bootstrap 5. I've used too many themes and templates that use their own css naming systems, which means that if you don't know their naming system, you have a learning process ahead of you. Being pure BS5, you should be able to drop Jomres into any BS5 theme and it will work as intended.

If you have a Jomres license you can download this new Quickstart from your account. Go to your account > Licenses > View an active license. At the bottom of the page you will see "Wordpress Quickstart Portal", click it to download it. The installation process is exactly the same as older Quickstarts so if in any doubt please visit the Manual for installation instructions. Once you have installed the Quickstart remember to save your license key in the admin area of Jomres > Settings > Site Configuration and then in the plugin manager first install the Plugin Manager plugin. Once that's done you will need to install the Alternative Init plugin. It's also recommended that in Site Configuration > Integrations tab you add a google maps API key, and an Open Exchange Rates api key.

The landing page is a simple splash screen with a Search Widget, while the Home Widgets page includes lots of examples of shortcodes you can use for your own landing pages. There are plenty more pages with lots of examples of different shortcodes you can use.

I'm really excited about this Quickstart because it's almost entirely built on Jomres shortcodes. As a designer you should find it super easy to use the existing example shortcodes in the Quickstart to build your own site. I've spend A LOT of hours tweaking how it behaves to make the UI look more professional than ever before. Please do let me know on the ticket system if you have ideas and suggestions of how it can be improved.
