Frequently Asked Questions

What do I get with a license?

Jomres is a full featured hotel and villa booking system which is designed to be a plugin for the Joomla and Wordpress Content Management Systems. The system is free and open source and can be installed through both CMS's "Install From Web" features.

When you have a license you're gaining the ability to download Jomres Quickstarts, Core plugins through the Jomres Plugin Manager, and to get support.

Quickstarts

Quickstarts are copies of the demo servers, already setup and ready to go. They're available in both Joomla and WordPress flavours and they're a massive time saver.

Support, Custom Coding & Setup services

I will only provide support, setup of installations and respond to feature requests from subscribers.

If you want me to develop custom software for your Jomres installation please note that I charge 100e per hour.

What do I do once I have got a license?

Visit your account on the license server, you will see a list of your licenses. Click View License and downloads.

On that page you will be see your license key. You need to save this key in your Jomres site > Administrator > Settings > Site Configuration > Misc tab. Once you have done that you will be able to download all plugins through the Jomres Plugin Manager.

On the same page on the license server you will be able to download Quickstarts for both Joomla and WordPress.

Do you store my credit card details?

No, payment is done via Stripe. We only store the last 4 numbers of the card to help you to identify the card.

What payment methods can I use?

Stripe are used for payments for Jomres, so there are many payment options available.

Do subscriptions auto-renew?

Yes, that's what "subscription" means. Having a subscription means that you can spread the cost of Jomres over several months instead of needing to make a larger payment as soon as you decide that Jomres is the tool for you.

What happens if I cancel my subscription?

You will no longer be able to download Quickstarts, Core plugins, or get support.

Also, I'll starve, so be nice and support the project!

Which package do I need for Joomla/WordPress?

It doesn't matter!

Jomres works on both CMSs due to it's unique CMS agnostic functionality. Almost all plugins are also CMS agnostic too (there are a small handful of exceptions to this rule) which means if they work on one CMS, they'll work on the other. This is because they're plugins for Jomres, not the CMS itself.

Over the years my competitors have tried to build different systems for each CMS and this approach has let their customers down because two different codebases for highly complex systems are a nightmare to maintain. As a result their customers suffer because they're unable to maintain both sets of code to the same standard.

Compare that approach to the Jomres way of doing things. Any improvements brought to WordPress are also available to Joomla because Jomres itself is almost a standalone system that loosely hooks into both CMS.

Is the software Open Source?

Yes, it is 100% Open Source, you can customise it completely to suit your own requirements.

Jomres and it's plugins are all hosted on your own server giving you complete control and autonomy over your business.  There are integrations available if you want to hook into other systems but they're not mandatory to use it.

Can I download plugins individually?

No.

You don't need to download lots of plugins and go through a laborious upload process of multiple zip files, they can all be downloaded through the Jomres plugin manager at a single click of a button.

The Plugin Manager has been an integral part of Jomres since 2009 and it has proven to be the most efficient and reliable way of ensuring that Jomres plugins are easily kept up-to-date. Whenever I improve a plugin it's immediately available for download through the plugin manager, you don't need to wait months for a big release.

As soon as a new or updated plugin is uploaded to the plugin server you only need to visit the Plugin Manager to download it. The plugins themselves manage any installation processes they need to handle. I've had 13 years to make this process as seamless and easy as possible and I'm very happy with how well it works.

How do I cancel my subscription?

View your invoice in your account on the license server, you can cancel from that page. Alternatively, raise a support ticket and I'll cancel it for you.

ABOUT US

vince picDeveloped and maintained by Vince Wooll, Jomres was initially conceived in early 2005 as a Mambo based solution to a client’s hotel management needs. While it wasn't originally expected to be an online booking system it quickly morphed into one as users requested more and more features.

As the number of feature requests grew Vince knew that he would need to dedicate more time to the project and in July 2005 Jomres was released as a commercial project. Since then Jomres has become the world's oldest online booking plugin for any PHP CMS. It has been used in Joomla 1.0, 1.5, 2.5, 3 & 4 and WordPress 4, 5 & 6.

Aladar joined the project in 2010 after using Jomres for his own projects. He was active on the forum, helping other members of the community and eventually Vince invited him to join the team. Between 2010 and 2018 he was an integral part of the project and made many significant contributions.

Whilst not formally part of the Jomres project, Rodrigo Rocco and Vince have become firm friends. Rod is a freelancer who specialises in doing custom work for Jomres users and developing custom plugins for the system that take advantage of it's modular design. He has built many useful extensions including his fabulous Valentina Template Override Package.
