Plugin Info plugin

There's a new Plugin Info plugin available from the Jomres Plugin Manager.

This plugin's job is to scan the installed plugin directories and search for any files. If the file exists then it's contents will be displayed on this page, which will be available in Admin > Jomres > Dashboard > Plugin Information.

Jomres plugin information is found mainly in the Plugin Manager, or in the Manual.

This means that whenever a plugin is created or updated, I then have to find the time to log into the manual, make the relevant changes and hope that you users can find them. Unfortunately the space available in the plugin manager isn't big enough to provide detailed instructions on how to use any plugin, or add any notes so up until now I've been making those notes in the manual whenever I've remembered.

The truth is, this isn't the best way to do things. Plugins are often updated in tandem with other plugins to take advantage of new features, but it's easy to forget to update the manual while I'm mentually juggling all those apples so instead I'm going to switch over to a new way of delivering detailed information about plugins.

In the future, where I feel it's necessary, I'm going to add markdown files to individual plugins. The new Plugin Info plugin will then be able to use any available files to build information which I feel that you as integrators will want to know to use the plugin.

Eventually, I expect to remove the Plugins section in the manual altogether.

vince picDeveloped and maintained by Vince Wooll, Jomres was initially conceived in early 2005 as a Mambo based solution to a client’s hotel management needs. While it wasn't originally expected to be an online booking system it quickly morphed into one as users requested more and more features.

As the number of feature requests grew Vince knew that he would need to dedicate more time to the project and in July 2005 Jomres was released as a commercial project. Since then Jomres has become the world's oldest online booking plugin for any PHP CMS. It has been used in Joomla 1.0, 1.5, 2.5, 3 & 4 and WordPress 4, 5 & 6.

Aladar joined the project in 2010 after using Jomres for his own projects. He was active on the forum, helping other members of the community and eventually Vince invited him to join the team. Between 2010 and 2018 he was an integral part of the project and made many significant contributions.

Whilst not formally part of the Jomres project, Rodrigo Rocco and Vince have become firm friends. Rod is a freelancer who specialises in doing custom work for Jomres users and developing custom plugins for the system that take advantage of it's modular design. He has built many useful extensions including his fabulous Valentina Template Override Package.
