There's a new Vanilla Single Property Quickstart available to download.

Like the other Vanilla Quickstarts, it's a basic installation of Jomres configured a certain way. This one is setup so that you can spin up a single property website in just a few minutes. You can see the demo here.

This Quickstart is slightly different to the others. Jomres absolutely needs to have a link in a Joomla menu, so the menu link is in an unpublished menu called Hidden. I wanted to have it so that we could have a menu option going to the Jomres control panel that wasn't visible to Guests. The problem is that if you simply make the menu option limited to Registered or higher users, then the ajax in plugins (including the booking form) will not work.

Adding Jomres to the Hidden menu solved this problem. I was then able to add a System link to the Main Menu that simply points to /index.php?option=com_jomres for the Control Panel menu options that's visible to registered guests and property managers who want to log in and view their bookings or properties.

As usual the Quickstart includes Akeeba backup, and this Quickstart also uses Articles Anywhere to build the homepage. This is the free version, but I highly recommend you consider updating to the paid version because it comes with some cool features.

Because it's virtually all just Joomla (excepting those two extensions) the intention is that you will be able to install your favourite theme/template and/or page builder and start customising the site quickly and easily.

This Quickstart is built on Joomla 4.3, currently the latest version. I have to admit, I found building this Quickstart I've really come to adore Joomla 4. It's just so easy to build sites in it. It's fast, secure and logical. Well played, Joomla.org.

ABOUT US

vince picDeveloped and maintained by Vince Wooll, Jomres was initially conceived in early 2005 as a Mambo based solution to a client’s hotel management needs. While it wasn't originally expected to be an online booking system it quickly morphed into one as users requested more and more features.

As the number of feature requests grew Vince knew that he would need to dedicate more time to the project and in July 2005 Jomres was released as a commercial project. Since then Jomres has become the world's oldest online booking plugin for any PHP CMS. It has been used in Joomla 1.0, 1.5, 2.5, 3 & 4 and WordPress 4, 5 & 6.

Aladar joined the project in 2010 after using Jomres for his own projects. He was active on the forum, helping other members of the community and eventually Vince invited him to join the team. Between 2010 and 2018 he was an integral part of the project and made many significant contributions.

Whilst not formally part of the Jomres project, Rodrigo Rocco and Vince have become firm friends. Rod is a freelancer who specialises in doing custom work for Jomres users and developing custom plugins for the system that take advantage of it's modular design. He has built many useful extensions including his fabulous Valentina Template Override Package.
